The fibre optic modules LW217 and LW218 together form a transmission system for data transmission of SSI signals utilizing optical fibres. The system ensures a reliable optical fibre-optic signal transmission up to 2000 meters (also due to explosive areas) and consists of an LW transmitter and an LW receiver.
The component with the designation LW217 serves as a transmitting module for the transmission of optical fibres. It converts the absolute SSI signals of a conventional sensor, measuring system or encoder with a synchronous serial interface (SSI) into optical fibre signals. The LW receiver (see LW218) converts the optical signals back into SSI signals.
